Screenwriters and actors often have a sort of love-hate relationship. Without writers, actors have no words to say; without actors, writers' words remain unspoken. Typically they don't have a deep understanding of each others' processes, and this means each side feels the other is failing to do justice to their craft and art.

The workshop ‹Authors and Actors: Breaking Down the Wall› will help both sides to understand more fully the processes, frustrations, and potential of the two. Among other things, there will be a couple of writing and acting exercises that will help everyone to see the process from both sides, by using the impro technique.

Authors are asked to submit a brief (no more than 5 minutes) two-person scene, actors will receive copies of the scenes one week before the workshop.

Tutor

Jurgen Wolff
studied impro with ‹The Groundlings› in Los Angeles and with Keith Johnstone in London. He has written more than 100 episodes of TV series, several TV movies, two mini-series (including midnight man), the feature film the real howard spitz, plays produced in New York, London, Los Angeles, and Berlin, and nine books - and he has found impro techniques useful in every aspect of writing. His latest book, ‹Creativity Now!› shows how to overcome blocks, be more creative, and turn ideas into action.
