Working Conditions in Romania
Permits
- Romania is part of the EU. No working permits requested.
- Shooting / Location permits have to be asked for by Romanian authorized production company.
Working Hours
- 72 hours a week / 6 days a week / 12 hours a day including 1 hour lunch break
- working hours are hours spent on set.
- a minimum of 10 hours rest has to be provided between two consecutive working days
- Romania is a Christian orthodox country and Sunday is the normal day off. However it is possible to work on Sunday and give another day off, on the condition that no more than 6 working days are scheduled in a row.
- there are different methods for calculating overtime. On certain deals, overtime is any working hour over the 72 hours weekly limit; on other deals, overtime is calculated in respect to the 12 hours daily program.
Rates
- there are no film technicians nor actors unions in Romania
- fees are not agreed or established on national level. Here are average weekly fees valid for 2010. These rates are just an indication; actual rates are subject to negotiation.
- usual daily fees are ¼ of weekly fee
Overtime
- when employment is on a weekly basis, overtime fee is x1.5 of hourly fee, while hourly fee is 1/60 of weekly fee
- when employment is on a daily basis, overtime fee is x1.5 of the hourly fee, while hourly fee is 1/10 of daily fee.
- there is no additional charge for working during night
- when working on Sunday, daily, hourly and overtime fees are x2 related to the regular ones.
Allowances
- employer is to provide transport for the crew and actors to/from shooting location or, alternatively, cover the corresponding fuel cost
- a minimum of one full meal, a sandwich, snacks coffee/tea and water is to be provided to everyone on set during a working day
- a 10€ perdiem is to be paid for every working day at more than 60km distance from Bucarest.
- a 15€ perdiem is to be paid for every non-working day scheduled at more than 60km distance from Bucarest.
